Short Description:
Join us for Reimagine Alternative Futures with Loteria 21C October 10th at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern Building futures from shared visions not only opens conversations…it opens worlds. During this session, learn a bit about the Alternative Futures approach and how it may be a useful tool. Then we’ll have a deep dive into a case study showing how a customized version of the Mexican Bingo game Loteria can be used to create alternative scenarios for the future. This activity can be a valuable tool to have people anticipate the future and visualize different possible scenarios together. Karina Vega Plasencia (a finalist in QRCA’s award as non-American professional) will share Futures Loteria, coined Loteria 21C, a new long-term scenario game developed to gain new archetypes and images of the future from different perspectives and contexts. While this new technique was created to explore alternative future scenarios for Mexico, we will break out to discuss in what ways we may adapt it.

Short Description:
Like the broader society in which we operate, qualitative research seems designed for and by extroverts. This is true in both the experiences of the research participants and qualitative research practitioners. Recent studies have shown introverts are often more thoughtful, analytical, and reflective people and as such are potential sources of insight, subtlety, and nuance. Our industry and the users of our research cannot afford to exclude the unique contributions of introverts.  This session will be interactive and personal. Whether we’re an introvert, extrovert or somewhere in between, we will learn about our own personalities and working styles.  We will also take a close look at qualitative research itself.
