Three years after artificial intelligence started to change our views about almost everything, AI is now a given in qualitative research. This conversation with three QRCA thought leaders (Daniel Berkal and Kendall Nash) will focus on how the roles of qualitative researchers are changing and what we need to prepare ourselves for the future.
Kendall is SVP, Client Services at Burke, in Cincinnati, OH. Burke was recognized as a 2025 Microsoft AI Agent of Change for early integration of AI into its operations and the continued work of their Generative AI Experimentation team. Over the last few years of Kendall’s 22 years at Burke, she has focused on thoughtful deployment of AI to improve insights and innovation work for clients, finding the places where AI has the greatest ability for positive impact and where human-led workflows are most critical. Sought out to speak on this topic globally, Kendall brings a wealth of perspective from researchers and clients alike, to help guide where machines and human thinking best intersect in the new world of insights.
Daniel Berkal is a globally recognized qualitative polymath who operationalizes advanced observational science to elucidate latent neural appraisal systems and socially distributed cognition. His empirical inquiries integrate behavioural phenomenology, ecological psychology, and emergent pattern recognition, generating theoretically significant insight into the adaptive architecture of human choice within dynamic cultural environments. He is also nice.
