How to be more creative in telling an interesting story, best practices in design and impact, and current benefits and limitations of AI in report writing.

The day begins at 9am with a light breakfast, welcome, and introductions followed by a great line-up of speakers for this 1/2 day unprecedented event!

Jodi McGee:  Are You Stuck Telling the Same Story?

  • Every great qualitative researcher understands the power of storytelling, but it's possible to get stuck in a storytelling rut when presenting to your clients. Fear not! This session will provide a refresher on different techniques to tell a great story with practical examples on how to choose the story framework that will give your findings their happily ever after.

Maria Virobik:  Designing Reports to Engage - Not Overwhelm - the Senses

  • Maria Virobik has worked as a qualitative analyst and writer since focus groups were still being recorded on cassette tapes. Now we’re in the era of live streaming, online platforms, biometrics and AI data analysis. While we may be living in a digital-first society, our eyeballs are decidedly analog. In today’s session, Maria will share some guidelines and best practices for making deliverables that are readable, digestible, comprehensible and memorable for the humans who read them.

Tom Rich:  Sharing the Load

  • For qualitative research moderators, working with a report writer can be a game-changer: it can save time and money and can lead to higher quality deliverables. However, the transition from writing your own reports to outsourcing this task can be a bumpy one; working with a report writer is a skill that must be learned. This presentation will focus on the specifics of working with a report writer, including scheduling and budgeting, managing scope and expectations, and the difference between analysis and deliverable creation.

Abby Leafe:  Test Drive:  AI Tools for Analysis and Reporting

  • AI is taking over the qual landscape, but what does it really mean for us researchers?  Is it going to save us time, steals our jobs, or just give us a little more gray hair?  Quallie Abby Leafe loves tech and has been trying these things out for the past year.  She’s by no means an expert but she will share her perspective as a curious early adopter on what she’s learned so far.  Plus, attendees will get to try out some tools too.  Bring your laptop if you want to play along and try some of the cutting edge tech for yourself.
